Having A Party!

Halloween is a great time for young and old alike; although in recent years we adults sometimes go off the deep end on this holiday! For kids, however, it's a fun time to be costumed, be with friends, and of course, collect candy.

Having a party is a great way to let the pre-teen kids burn off excitement without being on the street. The youngest children always are out collecting candy with their parents before dark. Pre-teens are usually trick or treating early in the evening, and want to stay out later like the teenagers do. The best time to have your Halloween Party is after your pre-teens have been out trick or treating. Then, they feel like they are staying up as late as the older kids, but yet you have parental control over their activities.Holidays and Halloween Trophies for Children

Party Activities and Awards

We all like to be awarded for achievement, and children crave the attention of rewards. Having a great selection of Halloween Awards or Trophies is a really neat way to create enthusiasm for your planned activities. Using a large and experienced company like Crown Awards is the easiest way to select trophies for the kids. They have a tremendous selection, and the staff is very knowledgeable if you have questions.

Planning your party so that everyone gets some sort of trophy or award can be a little tricky because everyone should get something. Using a point system always works out well; have parents assign points for most candy, best costumes and activity winners. The kids get individual awards for each category, and then a Halloween King & Queen Trophy and the end of the party. It's Fun!

You can present awards for:

Attendance: Every child should get some sort of party favor. Crown has great, inexpensive Halloween ribbons and medals for under $2. or small cup trophies for under $4. that would be great for this.

Most Candy Collected: It's always fun to dump out the candy and see who got the most and let them trade for their favorites. Ribbons for first, second and third place for the most candy collected would be appropriate.

Costumes: You have to be careful with this one, as the parents often may be responsible for the kid's costume. You might want to award some sort of small trophy, {like Crown's Oracle Lucite Wreath Trophy ($3.95)} to the winner and medals to runners up.

Games: One of the easiest games is the "Eyeball Relay Race". First, divide the kids into teams. The first child of each team should be given a spoon along with a ping-pong ball painted to look like an eyeball. The object is to carry the eyeball in a spoon to the end of the course without dropping the eyeball, return, and hand the spoon and eyeball over to the next team-member. Every child in each team should have a turn before the game ends. The team that is done first wins the trophy. Since this is a team event, medals or ribbons for the winners is a good choice. If you have an appropriate outdoor area, you can substitute a balloon filled with water on a plate to be carried in the relay.

Activities: An oldie but goodie is the Trick or Treat Mr. Potato Head. Giving each child this toy and letting them create freaky faces and scary getups is sure to be a winner. You can give trophies like the Crown Award's Lucite Star ($3.95) for the winner and ribbons for the runners up.

Halloween King and Queen: If you assign points to all the activities, the boy and girl with the most points is crowned the Halloween King and Queen at the end of the party. I really like the Idol Insert Star Trophy for this one, and I know the kids will like it too!

Planning, Planning, Planning

The key to any kid's party is planning! So, if you take the time and use these suggestions, chance are the kids will have a great time and so will the parents!
