Find A Job, Any Job Then Focus On Dream Job

Are you one of many people today who can say "I need a job"

? Since the job market remains weak, it may take some time to find your dream job.

No doubt you have worked hard getting your education and would like to work in an area where you are well qualified, and your skills are appreciated. You probably also have an idea as to how much money you would like to earn. If you haven't already done so, it can be a good investment to get a resume professionally done to make a good impression on potential employers.

As the job market is very competitive, even once you have submitted resumes you could be waiting for weeks or even longer to finally be offered the dream job you are waiting for. In the meantime, while you are waiting to be contacted for interviews, it is a good idea to take any job that you can find.

Quite a few people might say "I need a job" but think it is beneath them to take low paying employment. Even with a weak job market, it is still possible to find work in retail, restaurants and other places where employers do not require staff to have a lot of education or skills. When you go for interviews for your dream job, a prospective employer will appreciate that you were willing to work at something you are overqualified for in order to keep busy and to be able to pay the bills. It does not look good on a resume to have big gaps in your employment history, unless you have a very good reason for it.

There are advantages of accepting a job that doesn't match your skills or education. The most obvious, of course, is that it will help you out financially as you will be able to pay your bills and not get too far into debt. Another advantage is there is social interaction, as you can get to know coworkers. Every job, no matter what it is, can provide opportunities to learn things you otherwise would not. It can aslo give you new appreciation for what those workers do on a daily basis.

Most importantly, if you have a steady income, even if it is much less than you are accustomed to, or that you believe you deserve to earn, you will have fewer financial worries. It is very stressful to have little or no income coming in, even if you are living with family members.

The search for finding your dream job will also be less stressful. You will be able to hold out for the job you really want, rather than settling for something less, just because you need a steady pay check.

If you need a job and are having trouble even finding work in retail or other industries, you may want to consider being an entrepreneur. You can place classified ads in your area, offering to do yard work, pet sitting, baby sitting and so on. There often is a demand for people to mow someone's lawn or look after a garden. You can charge whatever you want by the hour, however, you may find it helpful to browse other ads and get an idea what others are getting paid by the hour.

In conclusion, getting any type of work you can to support yourself while you concentrate on finding your dream job will make it a lot less stressful for you. This can further enhance the impression you give to employers as well.
