Can A Payday Loan Save Your Christmas?
A few years ago, a friend of mine and his girlfriend got into a bit of a muddle halfway through December
. At that time they were not aware of the possibilities of payday loans. It was really a pity; because if they had known about Christmas payday loans, they could have saved themselves a lot of stress, tears, and embarrassment.She was employed full-time and he was starting up a company but it wasn't earning him any money yet. Her income was just enough for them to get by.
Up to that point, her employer had always been more or less on time paying her wages. That December however something went wrong. For some reason, her money hadn't come in by the 20th, as it usually did. She made several calls to her employer and each time he promised that he would transfer the money the same day. But the days passed, and the money still wasn't there.
The morning of the 24th she went to work as usual. After finishing her shift she went to her employer's office and explained that she had no money at all. She was a brave and strong woman, and normally quite proud. But when Christmas is just ahead and you've no money whatsoever, pride just needs to take second place.
He listened to her plea and understandingly reassured her that if she would come by the office in the afternoon, the money would be there. She didn't really believe that the miracle would happen, but there's only so much you can say and do. And after all, it would be a perfect example of a cold and heartless Scrooge if he would let her go into a four-day bank-holiday over Christmas without money. That just can't happen, can it? Nobody would be so cold.
Well, he was. She went back that afternoon and of course, there was no money. There wasn't an employer either: he had taken the afternoon off and was nowhere to be found. She went home in the most terrible state you can imagine and entered the house in tears.
My friend controlled his anger, and called the employer. He explained how hard and unjust the situation was. After all, she had worked all month for her money, and worked very hard at that. 'Please sir, this is too unfair. Please pay my girlfriend today. We have no food, no money, but we do have Christmas. Could you please have a heart?'
The employer assured her that he would pass by the house within an hour with the money. Hardly believing it, they waited for an hour. And another hour. Nothing.
Finally, they gave up believing that it would happen and decided that they had two possibilities: Eat bread and cheese for four days, if their supply would even last them that long, or borrow money from a relative.
With lead in their shoes, they went to my friend's uncle. He was very willing to help and made no fuss - but this gentleman didn't have much money either. So essentially three people had to make do because one man with deplorable ethics had not kept his word.
My friend and his lady were very grateful to the uncle of course. But they were also very embarrassed! If only they had known about payday loans, they could have avoided embarrassment, they wouldn't have had to bother someone else, there would not have been any tears. A Christmas payday loan would have prevented all that stress that nobody wants to experience at Christmas.
