Are You Bored With Your Job?

Are You Bored With Your Job?

When you find yourself feeling unhappy with your job and considering making a change

, just as it is important for you to take time to figure out which direction you want to go when it comes to your career, it's also very important to stop and take some time to understand exactly what it is about your job that you're unhappy with. One common reason for job unhappiness is boredom.

We all have days on the job where we don't have a lot going on and we get a little bored. But if you find yourself feeling as if grass grows faster than the time it takes for your work day to end and picking the lint off your clothes is more entertaining than work itself, it could be that you are bored with your job.

This could be because your job is so routine and so easy to do now, it doesn't require much brain power to perform. Or perhaps you feel like there is no real challenge or reward in what you do.

Regardless of the reason, boredom is a very common reason behind job dissatisfaction. We are all very different. Although one person may thrive from placing widget A into widget B each day, you could be silently going out of your mind with boredom and frustration. We are all very different from each other. Our personalities have a lot to do with this, as do our values, age, education, and the goals and dreams we have for ourselves.

The best way to find out the reasons behind your boredom is to ask yourself a few questions. As soon as you start to feel bored at work, write down the reasons why. Is it that you don't have enough to do? Is the job is not challenging enough for you?

Or is it you and your overall lack of ambition or desire to apply yourself? Ouch!

Learning more about what makes you happy, how you feel about your current job, and taking stock of your life will help you connect the dots and create a clearer picture of the direction you need to take.

By taking stock of your life, you can gain a clearer perspective of where to go from here. You can take this information and use it as a road map that can help you take advantage of opportunities and avoid or lessen certain challenges you may face if you decide to start the journey down a new career path.
